Today, I’d like to share something a little different—our recent collaboration with a local artist.
This season, we’ve started carrying SHINYA KOZUKA, a brand known for its uniquely structured silhouettes. Many of the pieces truly require strong visual storytelling through modeled photography to fully convey their appeal.
Around the same time, we were approached by Daniel Fung, who has understood and resonated with our store's concept since we first opened. He kindly offered to do a photo shoot with us.
I must admit, I’m not well-versed in photography—I don’t have a clear sense of composition, color theory, or what technically makes a "good" photo. But when I saw Daniel’s past work, I was simply moved. There was something about it that struck me as beautiful.
Even though I lack formal knowledge in photography, I think my instincts—my sense of what feels right or different—were shaped by countless hours spent flipping through Japanese fashion magazines growing up. In those magazines, the focus is always on trendsetting, creative styling, and making the items stand out in a way that drives interest and, ultimately, sales. The best photos strike a balance between art and commerce, catching the viewer’s eye and sparking curiosity.
Daniel’s photography blurs the lines between menswear and womenswear, presenting new styling perspectives with a sense of freedom. His work naturally draws attention to the key elements that each brand wants to emphasize.
I believe this is thanks not only to his deep understanding of fashion but also to the way he communicates—thoughtfully and openly—allowing us to uncover and express what we truly want to convey.
Please take a moment to view a selection of photos from this shoot. We hope you enjoy them.
